The Allium cyathophorum var farreri is a stunning dwarf allium that is found high up in the mountains of northwest China. The allium has stunning drooping flower heads filled with bright purple flowers that end in sharp points. As the Allium cyathophorum var farreri is a dwarf species it only reaches a maximum height of 20cm. The bulbs should be planted late in the year from September to October for a bloom starting in early summer.
The allium does best when planted about 10cm deep into well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny area of the garden.
