Daystar Quark Magnesium Filter

Take your solar viewing to the next level with Daystar’s new Magnesium Quark filter. This all-in-one design combines components of a telecentric barlow, snouts, and adapters, into one compact, research-grade hydrogen alpha filter. Just insert in the Quark, add an eyepiece, plug it in, and view both prominences or surface details in incredible magnesium! The eye is most sensitive at this 5172.8Å wavelength, giving you a significantly brighter image.

The fully optimized design eliminates the need for any adapters with its combined-in-one lightweight eyepiece-sized assembly. There is even reduced power consumption, so you can study or enjoy solar activity all day. (small, official Daystar Filters a palm-sized battery pack sold separately)

For Experienced Daystar Quark Users:

You will notice that the Magnesium Quark yields a significantly brighter image than the Hydrogen Alpha, Calcium and even Sodium Quarks. This means there will be easier seeing, and also less exposure time while imaging.

Our Recommendations:

• ***If you are planning to use a Quark for off-axis applications, please see the COMBO Quark for that purpose. (not currently offered in Magnesium)
• The Daystar Quark Magnesium model is optimized to show both plage and dark mottling of the chromospheric network. 
• The Daystar Quark filters perform the best with F/4 - F/8 refractors. In those ranges, the user will not need to worry about configuring their Quark.
• Yellow and Red glass ERF filters will not pass Magnesium. For apertures greater than 80mm, you will need to use a to keep your equipment safe.
